MNIHAS Experts

Minnesota Institute of Horn of Africa Studies draws on deep ties and decades of experience working in the Horn of Africa region and the diaspora of our immigrant communities in Minnesota to build a better understanding of political, economic, and cultural differences through original research, constructive dialogue, and public events.

Our organization regularly consults with prominent leaders locally and internationally to improve communications. These leaders include former Horn of Africa politicians and activists, U.S. diplomats, Minnesota regional officials, and academic scholars on the cutting edge of their fields.

Our experts play a crucial role in our events, providing analysis, research, and recommendations on pressing cultural issues as well as contributing to informed decision-making in public policy, business, academia, and other sectors.

We assemble a diverse pool of thoughtful, committed individuals to critically examine our communities’ most urgent problems and implement long-term, trauma-informed solutions that will improve the wellbeing of our immigrant communities and the State of Minnesota at large.
